Green Flag flying once again at Stotfold Mill Meadows
Stotfold Mill Meadows Nature Reserve was recently announced as one of six open spaces in Bedfordshire recognised as some of the best community-run green spaces in the country in the UK’s National Green Flag Awards 2019. Stotfold Nature Reserve has been the proud recipient of a Green Flag Award every year since 2012. This is a real testament to all the volunteers in TEASEL who carry out this work on behalf of the Stotfold Mill Preservation Trust.
What is the Green Flag Award
The scheme recognises and rewards well managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of recreational outdoor spaces across the UK and around the world. The Award is intended to ensure that everyone can have access to quality green spaces wherever they live through good management and practices.
Arguably though the best reason for getting a Green Flag Award is the recognition given to the hard work of managers, staff and volunteers who look after them.
Stotfold really is very lucky to be home to such an accessible place where anyone can go to take in the air, enjoy the views and mostly look for the variety of wildlife attracted to this wonderful haven in the heart of Bedfordshire.
So a huge well done to all those involved in this achievement, our town is much lovelier because of all your efforts. If you would like to get involved there are regular conservation tasks and a wildlife group meets monthly. For more information contact enquiries@stotfoldmill.com.
