STOTFOLD MILL FIRE – 25 YEARS ON

In the early hours of the 15th December 1992, the Tasker family living in Mill House were woken by a great commotion, as a fierce fire engulfed the neighbouring Stotfold Mill. By day break all that was left of this historic building was a smouldering pile of ash and rubble, and some badly damaged brickwork.

25 years on we remember this devastating event, in pictures and the words of neighbours, firemen and the people of Stotfold. Our special commemorative exhibition marks a turning point in the history of the Mill.

It took 5 fire engines and 27 fire fighters just to prevent the fire spreading to other properties.
