The Stotfold Art group has a long history, stretching back to 1984. It once came within the control of the Bedfordshire Council adult education activities but in recent years it has developed into an independent Cooperative Association with all of its members sharing a collective responsibility for its affairs. Whilst no formal tuition is provided, members are always ready to provide each other with mutual support, advice, practical help and sparkling conversation. Our weekly meeting is as much a social occasion as a time to work on artistic development.

A wide range of mediums such as drawing, watercolour, oil, pastel and acrylic are practised by our 15 - 20 regular members so help can be found for most problems which challenge artists.

The group welcomes people of all abilities and ages, from the raw beginner to the experienced, so that anyone with a love of art can develop and improve their work in a relaxed and very friendly environment. Membership is open to anyone and not restricted to Stotfold residents. We currently meet in the main hall of the Roecroft Centre in Stotfold and have room for more members.

The group tries to exhibit work whenever and wherever possible and are therefore very pleased with our link with Stotfold Mill. In 2006 the Mill has provided a superb venue for the extended display of the group's work in both the Tea Room and the Conference Room. The paintings enhance the atmosphere and sales benefit both the Art Group and The Preservation Trust.

The Art Group has a well established contact with the Arlesey Art Group and meets up with them in social gatherings during the year. The Stotfold Group was delighted to be able to host its 2006 'summer get together' in the Mill's Tea Room.

The Group meets during the formal Spring, Autumn and Winter school terms every Thursday between 1.45pm and 3.45pm including half term. The cost of membership is just £10 per term.

We guarantee a warm welcome for anyone wishing to come join us. No formalities, just turn up for a couple of weeks free trial.
